Demosthenes joined the firm in 2003 and deals mostly with banking and finance. Demosthenes worked as an associate in the New York offices of Morgan Lewis & Bockius, where he dealt in securities issues, especially relating to Ch. 11 bankruptcy reorganizations, he subsequently finished a training contract in the London offices of Watson Farley and Williams, where he worked in the shipping finance group, especially in re-financing and leasing, representing banking institutions. Since joining Chrysses Demetriades, Demosthenes has been active in M&A for various international companies based in Cyprus as well as counsel for banks wishing to obtain security through Cyprus corporate assets as part of major international financial transactions. Further, he has been involved with issues relating to financial regulation and banking, having advised Investment Services Companies and Banks offering investment services in relation to their obligations in connection with the “Law regarding Cyprus Investment Firms”. He has been appointed by the Central Bank of Cyprus as part of a team that has drafted the “Regulation of Trustees, Directors and Fiduciary Services in Cyprus” bill, now in the final draft and soon to be considered by the House of Representatives.

Demosthenes represented AFI Development PLC in relation to its London Stock Exchange 1,4 Billion $US IPO in the London Stock exchange as well and was involved in other similar IPOs in AIM. He has also advised in relation to Eurobond Issues.

Education: Demosthenes has been a member of the English Bar, Middle Temple since 2000 and an Attorney-at-Law of the State of New York since 2001. In 2003 he was admitted as a Solicitor (non- practicing) of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He was admitted to the Cyprus Bar in 2003. He is a graduate of King’s College London (LL.B. Hons.)1998 and of Georgetown University, School of Law (LL.M in Securities and Financial Regulation) 2000.
