THOMAS KEANE Consultant in the Company/Commercial Department
Thomas studied at the University of Limerick where he graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in 1988 and then he further studied at the University of London with an LL.M. (1989). He was admitted to the Irish Bar in 1992.
Thomas joined the firm as a consultant in 1992. Prior to joining the firm he lectured in law at the University College of Galway in Ireland. He deals with all areas of company and commercial law and has wide experience of corporate finance, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, international tax planning, trusts, EU law, intellectual property and IT and competition work.
He has written and spoken widely on intellectual property and IT, competition, trusts, asset finance and EU law and is a member of the European Communities Trade Mark Practitioners Association. His publications include “The New Copyright Law in Cyprus” and “Copyright and Copyright Protection in Cyprus” (Copyright World 1994), “The Irish Competition Act 1991 and Intellectual Property Rights – An Overview” (Copyright World 1995), co-author with Chris Georghiades of the Cyprus Chapter in “Offshore Legal Opinions in Loan and Security Transactions” (Sweet & Maxwell, 1997), the Cyprus Chapter in “Offshore Financing: Security and Insolvency” (FT Law & Tax, December 1997), and the Cyprus Chapter in “International Licensing” (BNA International, forthcoming)
