We regularly advise on the preparation and negotiation of a wide range of commercial shipping contracts from the relatively simple preparation of a memorandum of agreement for the purchase of second hand tonnage to more complex transactions involving fleet acquisitions or the sale and lease-back of vessels. We have particular experience in:

  • sale and purchase contracts for new build vessels both at the pre-delivery and post-delivery stage
  • time, voyage and bareboat charters
  • contracts of affreightment
  • pooling and capacity sharing arrangements for a wide range of vessel types
  • joint venture and shareholders' agreements between relevant parties where a vessel is to be owned and operated as part of a joint venture
  • management agreements and supervision contracts for new build vessels

We are equally experienced in advising on all aspects of a vessel's registration, whether such registration is required in respect of a new build vessel or following the purchase of second hand tonnage, and works closely with our Ship Finance team in relation to such matters.

Since we represent a very large percentage of the Cyprus fleet and of ships registered in other jurisdictions, we provide our ship owning and ship management clients with a monitoring service for that ensures that their vessels comply with the requirements of the Cyprus Department of Merchant Shipping and of the other flag administrations.
