We are experienced in dealing with all aspects of Cyprus and EU Competition Law across all industries and sectors, including in relation to:

• Complaints to the EU Commission and to the Cypriot Commission for the Protection of Competition for potential violations of EU and national Competition Law.
• Investigations and hearings before the Cypriot Commission for the Protection of Competition and European competition authorities on all aspects of anti-competitive behavior.
• Advice to ensure compliance with national and European Competition rules or other sectorial regulations including in relation to supply and distribution arrangements and other vertical and horizontal agreements.
• Advice and assistance with State Aid matters and complaints representation before competition authorities in Cyprus (for both complainants and investigated entities).

Our firm’s dedicated Data Protection team offers specialist advice on GDPR, Privacy and cyber security compliance. We have been engaged to provide ongoing compliance advice to leading insurance, international shipping and other companies. We are also often engaged as counsel representing companies investigated by the local Data Protection Commissioner.

Our EU law team also advises and acts in other specialist areas affected by EU law such as in relation to:

• Consumer protection legislation and unfair commercial practices through the provision of advice and defence in investigations and hearings before the Cypriot Consumer Protection Service.
• EU Internal market issues
• EU Russia Sanctions legislation through provision of advice and the handling of applications for licenses to the competent authorities.
• Infringement Proceedings for violations of EU law before the European Commission for complainants or third parties.
• European Environmental legislation such in relation to the Habitats Directive and related infringement proceedings before the EU Commission.

We have significant experience in preparing and handling Merger Control notifications before the CPC and the European Commission, including in difficult cases and Phase II investigations. Our team is regularly instructed by leading international law firms and major Cypriot corporations in transactions falling within the Cypriot Merger Control thresholds.
