Demosthenes is a recognized banking and finance practitioner, specializing in advising borrowers in connection with major cross-border syndicated loans, both internationally and locally, high yield bond issues and hybrid transactions as well as pursuing an interest in the expanding field of energy related projects, focusing on the Cyprus off-shore exploration, alternative energy infra-structure and investment into Russia and India.

In the past he has acted as Cypriot law counsel in major deals involving Russian interests and has been involved in the listing of AFI development PLC in the London Stock Exchange. He also serves as corporate secretary to another company listed in the LSE.

He has also had experience in private equity corporate acquisitions and restructuring. He has advised a London based private equity fund on the financing of an alternative energy project in Cyprus and a consortium bidding for a Cypriot off-shore exploration license, as well as the listing of one of the members of the consortium in the New Market of the Cyprus Stock Exchange. He is very interested in the development of the energy section in Cyprus and takes part in related committees through the Limassol Chamber of Commerce, where he serves in the Board of Directors.

In 2012, Demosthenes advised Ruspetro Plc, on issues of Cypriot law, in relation to its US$ 250 Million London listing and the Underwriters in relation to the $350 Million IPO of MD Medical Plc.

In 2013, Demosthenes advised the Underwriters in Qiwi Plc’s successful listing in Nasdaq, a first for a Cypriot company. He further continues to advise Cypriot Companies in connection with listings in the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange such as Vonetize PLC, which he helped list recently and Mirland Plc.

Demosthenes is currently advising the Underwriters (Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, VTB Capital, BofA Merrill Lynch and Sberbank) (in connection to the listing of Headhunter Group PLC, a leading Russian recruiter in Nasdaq and its most recent filing.

He has acted as Cypriot counsel for many corporates raising capital through high yield bond issues, including the Euro 1.0 Billion 6-year senior financing of EP Energy, the largest deal ever for a Czech corporate borrower and most recently, acting as lenders’ counsel in relation to the re-financing of Cyfrowy Polsat to the amount of PLN 12,5 Billion in September 2015 as well as acting for VTB in its capacity as financier to Wandle and Sacturino in connection to their offer of USD 9 Billion for the whole of the share capital of the London listed company Polyus Gold. More recently he was involved in the Motherson Sumi $300 Million Bond Issue. More recently he has been engaged by a consortium of Banks in connection with the financing of the acquisition of certain positions in large Indian companies by a large fund as well as advising funds in connection to large debt investments in Greece.

In the local market, Demosthenes has lead a team of lawyers advising on the Cyprus law aspects of the Euro 140 Million re-organization of Marina Limassol on behalf of the Bank of Cyprus and of the Euro 170 Million re-organization of the Limassol based Lanitis Group.

He continues to advise major investment banks in connection to the status of their derivative positions following the introduction of the Bank Resolution legislation. Moreover, he has advised Capita IRG Trustees in relation to the creation of the first Depositary Interests by the Cyprus Stock Exchange which resulted in the parallel listing of the Bank of Cyprus Holding Limited in the London and the Cyprus Stock Exchange.
On the merger side he has lead the Cypriot law advising team in the cross-border merger of DEEP SEA SUPPLY PLC into the Norwegian SOLSHIP SUB AS, a merger that was a part of the tripartite merger, creating Solstad Farstad.

Demosthenes has served as a Director of the Cyprus University of Technology, a post to which he was appointed by the President of the Republic. He has also servesdas honorary Treasurer in the Executive Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce (Cyprus) from the position of Honorary Treasurer and is currently a Director of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce.
